Florence School District 3 has scheduled a series of stakeholder forums to gather community input as the district begins its search for a new superintendent.
The forums will be held in the Board Meeting Room behind the district’s administrative offices at 125 S. Blanding Street in Lake City on the following dates and times:
- Thursday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, December 20, at noon
- Monday, December 29, at 6:30 p.m.
These sessions provide an opportunity for parents, students, employees, business leaders, and other community members to share which qualities and qualifications they believe are most important for the next FSD3 superintendent.
The Board of Trustees is accepting superintendent applications through noon on January 1, 2026. The district anticipates having the new superintendent in place by May 1, 2026.
During Thursday’s regular board meeting, the district announced the formation of a Superintendent Search Committee. The committee is responsible for interviewing qualified candidates and making a recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
Board members serving on the committee are Gregory McKnight, Dr. Julia Mims, Paula Morris and Mattie Thomas. Other members of the committee include Ashley Jones Floyd (parent), Shayla Wilson (parent), Tina Duarte (teacher), Jessica Morningstar (teacher) and Christy Flowers (teacher).
